Spekit Onboarding Guide for Admins

Step by step process to get started with Spekit.

Are you an Admin just getting started with Spekit? Read on for our step-by-step guide:

  1. Sign up to Spekit
  2. Connect Spekit to Salesforce
  3. Import Salesforce objects
  4. Invite your team
  5. Download the Chrome Extension 

1. Sign up to Spekit

  1. Go to spekit.co/signup
  2. Fill out the sign up form and click “Sign up”.

2. Connect Spekit to Salesforce

  1. Click “Connect to your Salesforce org” in the banner.
    After signing up, you’ll land in the Spekit playbox with a purple banner. Click on “Connect your Salesforce org.”

  2. Check for permissions.
    Check your Salesforce profile to make sure you the required permissions to connect to Spekit.

  3. Click connect a production org.
    After verifying that you have the permissions needed to connect, check the checkbox to confirm this. Click Connect a production org to connect your Spekit account to Salesforce. You can choose to connect to a Salesforce sandbox org to see how it works.

  4. Login to Salesforce.
    You’ll be redirected to Salesforce to login. Enter your Salesforce user id and password and click Log In. You’ll be asked to allow access to Spekit.

3. Import Salesforce objects

  1. Select and import objects to document
    • After you’ve logged into Salesforce, you’ll be taken to the Manage Objects page,
    • Select one or two objects to import as shown below. You can always import more later.
    • After making your selection, click on Import Selected Objects.
    • Wait up to 10 minutes for the import to complete. Larger orgs will take longer. Once the objects are imported, you’ll be redirected to the Data Wiki

4. Invite your team

  1. Invite a Salesforce user
    • Go to the invite users page.
    • Search the list on this page, select a role, and click “Invite”.
    • Users invited via Salesforce can only login via their Salesforce username and password.
    • Once you invite a Salesforce user, they don’t need to click the invite in their email – they can simply login directly to Spekit.embedded in text input

       

    • You can select from three roles:
      • Admins have all permissions in the app
      • Experts can create and edit content and tags, and assign Speks. They cannot hide Speks, invite others or configure Spekit.
      • Viewers can only access and star (bookmark) content.

         

  2. Invite a non-Salesforce user
    • To invite non-Salesforce users, click Invite by email.

    • In the popup that opens, enter their name and email. Select a role and click on “Send Invite.”embedded in text input

5. Download the Chrome Extension

  1. Follow this link to the Chrome Store

     

  2. In the Chrome Store, click Add to Chrome.

  3. Click on “Add extension.”

    You’ll see this confirmation once the install is complete.

  4. Click on the Spekit icon and log in to Spekit.
    You will see a Spekit icon added to your toolbar. Click on this icon to open the Spekit chrome extension as shown below. Click Login to Spekit and l

  5. Once you’ve done this, you’ll see the “Starred terms” screen and can start using the chrome extension.
    • Try searching for “How to create a report” – one of our out-of-the-box “Salesforce 101” Speks
    • In Salesforce, you will now see the Spekit help icon next to any defined object, field or picklist value.
